The Monument to the Fallen of Regiment 54,  Giv'ati Brigade

Located on route 232, to the south of Giv'ati Junction.

During the" Yo'av Operation"  in the War of Independence, in October 1948, the fortified lines of the Egyptian army were breached and the way to the Negev was opened. The Negev had been cut off for some five months. The battle for the Hulikat positions – the surrounding hills – were part of this push. The climax of the battles was the taking of “the Junction”( Giv'ati Junction) and the Huleikat positions along the road leading south from the junction.

The monument commemorates 126 members of Regiment 54 who fell in the War of Independence.

The monument comprises three vertical arrows aimed upwards, which was the sign of the vehicles that fought in the area.

The monument bears the verse: “The nomad – when you go down to the Negev, remember us.”
