The Sandwich Armored Vehicle –"Bubeleh" at Kibbutz Gal'on
At Kibbutz Gal'on there is an armored vehicle built on a chassis that was purchased from an Arab in Ramle . As there was a shortage of steel , the body was assembled in the kibbutz metal workshop, reinforced with layers of thick tin-wood and then more tin. That is why the vehicle was named “sandwich".
This armored vehicle was pressed into service in 1948, to the Giv'ati Brigade , and took part in the battles of Tel Arish and Jaffa. The vehicle was also used in three attacks on the Iraq Suidan Police Station, and evacuated wounded to Be’er Tuviya.
